Newsletter 3 - February 14th 2020

ar School Friends and Families

Well this brings to a close another week, which happens to be our first whole week of school this year. I’ve managed to get into each of the classes during the week and I’ve been amazed at how quickly the students have settled into their learning. Out in the playground I’ve noticed everyone playing together nicely and it’s been wonderful to see out school values on display both in and out of class.

This is a busy time of year and there has been a lot happening. Touch rugby starts up soon as does cricket. Notices for touch have gone out already. There is Superstar and Girls Smash Cricket starting back up again soon. This is starting on February 27th at Lumsden School 4-5pm and running for 6 weeks.

There is an online registration this year where parents can sign up their kids, with the link below:

https://registrations.crichq.com/register/203550 The Superstar programme is $20 per player and it’s free for Girls Smash.

Just a reminder that the road outside our school can be a dangerous place, especially at the end of the day. This can be compounded by people parking too close to where the children cross making it difficult to see approaching traffic. If you are able to park a little further back it would make a huge difference.

We had our first Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday night which was a very productive meeting. The board consists of parent representatives, a staff representative and myself. Collectively the board is an essential part in the successful operation of our school. There currently exists an opportunity for another person to join our board from our parent community. If you are interested or would like to find out more about it please just ask myself or perhaps one of our current board members at the Meet and Greet next Thursday night.

This is a chance to meet with your child's teacher and find out a bit more about what goes on at school. It will also be an opportunity to meet other parents, our BOT and FoLS (Friends of Lumsden School) groups. I'll introduce these groups after we start at 5:00. There will be some games on the field run by our student leaders for the children and some sausages on the bbq.

Continuing with the theme of meeting people. On Friday at 2:00pm there is a ‘Coffee Catch Up’ in the staffroom with FoLS. You are most welcome to come and find out more about the group and what some of the plans for this year are.

Ka kite ano,
