Kia ora

I would like to start by thanking all of the people who helped out at Northern Southland Athletics yesterday. We had a group of parents from our school who were able to assist at different events and at the running where their keen eyes helped determine placings. There literally were photo finishes which had the crowd gasping and cheering. This is a huge event with schools from Te Anau, Mid Dome and Waimea zones competing. Lumsden School students performed well while proudly displaying our school values and cheering extra loudly… as did parents. It was a fantastic day!

Yesterday also we had our Duffy Assembly. Johnny said “Bex pet was lost in the forest, I enjoyed it a lot”. Luigi said, “They found a chicken, dog and cat”. “The name of the chickencatdog was Millie”. It sounds as though all of the children who were there really enjoyed it.

This week has also seen the beginning of swimming lessons with two instructors working with us each day from Invercargill. Each student has had the opportunity to increase their confidence, skill, in and around the water. Lessons will continue into next week, finishing on Monday 23.

Next Friday FoLS is doing a sausage sizzle at lunch time. Last week we had a few too many so this time we’re going to try preorders to see if that will make it more efficient. Early next week there will be a note that comes home for you to fill out for your child. This will be returned to school with the money and their sausage and bread will be ready for them at lunch time Friday. We could do with another few helpers to run the BBQ after next week as we would like to do this once more before the end of term. If you are able to help out let me know.

Ka kite ano,

Callum Tytler

Acting Principal
