Newsletter 7 - March 26th 2021

Kia ora koutou

Today there is a small group of athletes travelling to Te Anau to compete in the Northern Swimming competition. Some of this group are competing again tomorrow with others at the Southland Athletics held at Surrey Park. We wish all of our athletes all the very best, and we will hopefully be able to share some triumphs and photos in our next newsletter.

There has been quite a bit of sport happening recently. Touch Rugby has been going well and after speaking with some of the children (and parents), I know there’s a bit of excitement surrounding rugby season too which is just around the corner. And this year without the same interruption as we had last year! I’m looking forward to getting around the different sports running over the next few months. Hockey in Gore is always good to watch!

Sadly, Mariette Geldenhuys is leaving us at the end of the term as her family are moving out of the area. Although she has been here for just a short time she has had a huge impact on all of us lucky enough to work with her. She supports learning in classes each day and will be a huge loss to our school.

I’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has been helping out in and around the school so far this year, even small things can have a huge impact. I know I’ve said it previously, but a school like ours just can’t function as well as it does without that support. Thanks heaps!

Just a reminder too that there is a teacher only day coming up on Monday 12 April. Have a great weekend everyone.
