Welcome back everyone to term four. I hope you enjoyed the break away from school which was well deserved after a rather challenging term three.
We’re off to a great start at school. Covid continues to force a few changes upon us though which is less than ideal. Pet day is unable to proceed the way we usually run it. Instead, we’ll have a morning at school just for the students with activities similar to those we would usually have. It also means that our end of year prizegiving might have to change too if we remain at level 2. This was always going to be a little different this year due to the large number of Year 6 students. Watch this space.
Our BOT have got their Annual Parent Survey all ready to go. The link to this will be emailed to you for you to complete. Please take the time to do so as the information gathered influences the direction of the school.
John Parsons is here Tuesday 16 November. There will be an evening for parents beginning at 5:30. John is considered one of the countries experts on internet safety, he is the author of the book, Keeping Your Children Safe Online and is highly sought after as a speaker. If you have not had the opportunity to hear John speak, please mark the date in your calendar as it is a brilliant opportunity, one that is too good to miss. I would imagine if you have heard him speak previously you’ve already marked the date as you know how valuable this time will be. For more information have a look at John’s website. https://www.citizen21.co.nz/
There is no charge for this session.
Finally, joining us this term as a Teacher Aide, supporting our learners in Room 4, is Sage Campbell. Welcome Sage, it’s great to have you on the team!
I hope you all manage to enjoy the long weekend.

Lachlan Gill has earned 60 Gotchas so far this year and will receive his Gold Award Certificate at the end-of-year break up ceremony. Well done Lachlan!
Buddy Reading
Most Tuesday mornings for the last few years, Lumsden School children have benefitted from the time and dedication of community members who come into school to sit down and read with them. It would be great to hear from anyone who would be interested in joining this buddy reading team.
Please contact the school office on 03 248 7474 for any further information. Thank you.
School Lawns
We have an alphabetical roster of all school families for mowing the area at front of school and by the staff carpark. Each family gets a turn once every 2-3 years. Here are the guidelines to follow:
¨ Pick up the school mower shed key from the Four Square Supermarket
¨ Check the mower has fuel and fill from can in shed if necessary. Please let the school know if petrol can is low and we will refill
¨ Check the map attached to the mower showing which areas to mow
¨ Catcher loads of grass can be emptied around the back of the school next to the sports container. Top mower up with fuel, when finished and return key to Four Square Supermarket.
The roster for the next few weeks is:
· 30/31 October Grant Family
· 6/7 November Gwilliam Family
