Kia ora koutou

Last night we held our Meet and Greet here at school. There were more people than last time and we’re grateful to everyone who was able to come along. Thanks too, to those who brought food along and to everyone who helped out with the BBQ. It was a wonderful evening and it was good to have the chance to chat in that setting.

Prior to our Meet and Greet, we had a meeting to which anyone interested was invited along to discuss the future direction of the school and the development of its bi-cultural curriculum. We had Jo Brand from the Hokonui Rūnanga join us. She shared some of the history of the area which was fascinating. It links in perfectly too with the conversations we’ll be having this year about the new histories curriculum, this is being implemented across New Zealand from 2022. Watch this space!

It's just under a week now until our Mid Dome athletics. Hopefully the weather will hold out. We have our FOLS selling sausages and possibly ice-blocks too. The coffee cart has been contacted and the children have been training hard. We’re all set to go, I hope to see you there. It’s always a busy day and often we find ourselves in need of a hand now and then. If you’re able to help out at an event for a rotation please let the teacher there know, it makes the day run a lot smoother.
