Kia ora koutou

This has been a week full of adventure. Our Year 5 and 6 students enjoyed a trip to Te Anau on Tuesday and then to Dolamore Park in Gore on Thursday. There are a few sore legs here today. Our junior students, along with the Year 4 group, went to Gore yesterday too for their day out. Thanks to all of the parents who came along to support these trips and help out with transport. I’d like to also say a huge thank you to the staff who put these trips together. There is actually quite a bit that goes on behind the scenes to make these trips work, so thank you to you all!

We’re in the process of putting together classes for 2022 and we will confirm these next week. Kate Wilson is leaving us at the end of the year, moving on to a position at Beaconsfield Primary School in Timaru.

Joining us, teaching a Year 5 and 6 class, is Jody Bolger. Over the next couple of weeks, there will be the opportunity for children to spend time with their teacher for next year. Jody will meet with her 2022 class via Zoom next week.

Last Friday we congratulated and celebrated Lachlan Gill. Lachlan is this year’s recipient of the Sir Peter Blake Young Leader Award. This year it was presented by Andrew Crawford. Sir Peter Blake believed in the incredible potential of young people to achieve great things. The Blake Young Leader Awards aim to recognise our young New Zealanders who show commitment to leading positive change in their community, which leads to a sustainable future for Aotearoa. This is quite an achievement, well done Lachlan!

Adventures During the Week

School Lawns

We have an alphabetical roster of all school families for mowing the area at front of school and by the staff carpark. Each family gets a turn once every 2-3 years. Here are the guidelines to follow:

¨ Pick up the school mower shed key from the Four Square Supermarket

¨ Check the mower has fuel and fill from can in shed if necessary. Please let the school know if petrol can is low and we will refill

¨ Check the map attached to the mower showing which areas to mow

¨ Catcher loads of grass can be emptied around the back of the school next to the sports container. Top mower up with fuel, when finished and return key to Four Square Supermarket.

The roster for the next few weeks is:

· 27/28 November Henry Family

· 4/5 December Hyde Family

Thank you for your support with keeping our school looking great, it is much appreciated.
