Kia ora koutou

I’m so incredibly proud of our students. They gave it their all yesterday at our Dome Athletics and I know there are more than a few tired people around the place today. We were lucky with the weather thankfully, hopefully we’ll be as lucky at Northern in a couple of weeks. Thanks to everyone who helped out. It was a great day.

Just a reminder that if your child is not catching the bus as usual after school, to give the school a ring or send a note to school. We quite often have children tell us they are off the bus when in fact they are meant to be on. Letting us know early on makes it more manageable at a very busy time of the day.

Last year due to Covid, the Ministry of Education connected thousands of homes around the country to the internet. All homes currently connected through the Ministry will continue to have free internet access until December 2021. These connections were due to start expiring this month. However, while COVID-19 is still a risk and an alert level change is possible, students can continue to access the internet and learn outside the classroom. If a family has moved house, or for any other queries, contact the Learning From Home Helpdesk at EDA@education.govt.nz or 0800 783 744.

With the recent alert level changes it is clear to everyone that Covid still has the potential to cause major disruption. We’ll be sending a link to a form early next week for you to fill out. This will help us be prepared as best we can in the event of another lockdown and the return to distance learning. Although we’re hopeful this will not be needed we need to be prepared.

Term 1 Swimming

Children will be swimming on Wednesday afternoons. Parent help will be required in order to provide a safe adult:child ratio for supervision. Please contact the school if you are able to help – Thank you.

School Lawns

Here are the guidelines to follow;

· Pick up the school mower shed key from the Four Square Supermarket

· Check the mower has fuel and fill from can in shed if necessary. Please let the school know if petrol can is low and we will refill

· Check the map attached to the mower showing which areas to mow

· Catcher loads of grass can be emptied around the back of the school next to the sports container. Top mower up with fuel, when finished and return key to Four Square Supermarket.

The roster for the next few weeks is:

  • 27/28 February Braithwaite Family

  • 6/7 March Walling Family

  • 13/14 March Baker Family

Emergency Contacts

While many families have cellphones we still require the name of at least one other person we can contact in the event of an emergency or illness of your child, who could come and collect your child. If your phone number or address has changed please remember to advise us so we can update our records.

Financial Contribution

The Board of Trustees respectfully ask for financial donations from each family to the value of $100 per child for the first two children and $70 for the third per annum.

We ask that you pay $25 per child (for the first two) and $17.50 for the third child for the first term as soon as possible. Alternatively you may wish to pay the full annual donation as a lump sum. Please make payment to Sharon in the office at school or directly into the school bank account 030960-0112624-00 (child/ren’s name as reference).

Please feel free to discuss this with Callum or Amanda Russell (BOT Chairperson 022 088 2265) if you have any other questions or concerns about this request.

Launchpad

Launchpad will commence next Friday 5th March from 9.00 – 9.30 am. Please note that school is officially closed during this time and parents are responsible for supervising any children not attending Launchpad who do not travel by bus.
