Kia ora koutou

On Monday we welcomed the New Zealand Navy Band to school. They’ve been doing a tour of schools in this part of the country and we were lucky enough to be on the list. What a performance! Starting with the Star Wars theme (always a favourite), they moved on through a few other oldies but goodies and kept the audience engaged throughout. There was even a bit of marching while Miss Wilson conducted the band and Miss Lines joined them on the symbols. What talented people we have here!

On that note, I’d like to welcome Tarryn Lines to the staff. Tarryn has joined the team as a Teacher Aide until the end of the year, supporting Mrs Stevens and all of the learners in Room 4. Welcome Tarryn.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Learning Hui on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, we had a great turnout. These meetings are an important part of your child’s learning journey and a great opportunity to celebrate the progress that has been made so far while also looking towards what might be achieved in the second half of the year.

I’d also like to thank the parents who have put their hands up to run a club this term. We had our first clubs day yesterday and it was fantastic! We have a range of activities on offer for our students and that additional help means group sizes are relatively small.

What a busy week it’s been with so much on! That continues today with FoLS here doing a sausage sizzle at lunchtime. I can’t wait! Enjoy your weekend everyone.
